Data Security
Data Security Solutions in Australia
Your most sensitive data is spread across more systems than ever, and much of it is unseen. CyberPulse helps you discover, classify and protect data across on-premises, cloud and SaaS, so the information that matters is governed and defended, not just stored.
Trusted by leading Australian organisations
CyberPulse clients include Minter Ellison, Veolia, Sydney Roosters, Utopia Digital and Meshed.

What data security covers
Four connected disciplines, delivered together as one solution, not disconnected tools.
Data security posture management (DSPM)
Continuously assess where sensitive data is exposed, over-shared or left unprotected, and prioritise the gaps that carry real risk.
Control who can access data
Govern data access with least privilege. Find over-permissioned and dormant accounts, tighten who can reach sensitive data, and keep access aligned to genuine need.
Prevent data loss and detect misuse
Stop sensitive data leaving through email, web, SaaS and AI tools, and detect unusual access or exfiltration in real time, with data-loss prevention and data detection and response feeding into managed detection and response, on platforms such as Netskope.
See where your sensitive data really lives
Book a data discovery assessment. We map the sensitive data you hold, where it is exposed, and a clear plan to protect it.
How we secure your data
Discover
We find sensitive data across on-premises, cloud and SaaS, including the shadow data no one is tracking.
Classify
We classify data by type and sensitivity, so protection is targeted at what actually matters.
Assess posture
We show where data is exposed, over-shared or unprotected, and rank the gaps by real risk.
Protect
We apply data-loss prevention, access controls and encryption to the highest-risk data.
Review and tune
We review your data-security posture with you and tune protection as your environment changes.
Why it matters
Shadow data you cannot see
Sensitive data spreads into cloud stores, SaaS and copies no one is tracking. IBM found breaches involving shadow data cost around US$5.27 million on average in 2024, well above the norm. You cannot protect what you have not found.
Data is the target
Most breaches are ultimately about the data. In Australia, malicious or criminal attack was the largest source of notifiable breaches, at 69 per cent (OAIC, 2024).
AI raises the stakes
Staff and applications feed data into AI tools, opening new paths for leakage. IBM found shadow AI added around US$670,000 to the average breach in 2025.
Compliance expects it
The OAIC recorded 1,113 data breach notifications in 2024, a record and up 25 per cent on the prior year. The Privacy Act expects you to know and protect the data you hold.
Ideal for
- ✓Organisations moving data into cloud and SaaS at pace
- ✓Teams that cannot say exactly where their sensitive data lives
- ✓Regulated sectors with strict data-protection obligations
- ✓Businesses adopting AI and worried about data leakage

The managed service model delivers that, while freeing my team from the bulk of compliance coordination effort and lifting the quality of both controls and supporting evidence. The outcome is a programme with the capacity to mature further and to take on new certification frameworks proactively, ahead of client and regulatory triggers.
What stands out is the depth of expertise. CyberPulse brings real command of the standards and the threat landscape, and applies it with judgement rather than box-ticking. Year on year they strengthen our security and compliance maturity and give leadership confidence that risk is genuinely understood, not just documented.
CyberPulse gave us clarity we didn't have before, not just on where we stood but a practical path forward. The roadmap they delivered has become the foundation of how we think about security investment.
Their guidance was practical, clear, and always grounded in what actually mattered for our business. They didn't just help us tick boxes; they helped us build a security posture we're genuinely proud of. If you're serious about enterprise-grade security, I can't recommend Cyber Pulse highly enough.
Frequently asked questions
What is data security?
Data security is the practice of protecting sensitive data wherever it lives, through discovery, classification, posture management, data-loss prevention and access controls, so the information that matters is governed and defended.
What is data security posture management (DSPM)?
DSPM continuously finds sensitive data across your environment and shows where it is exposed, over-shared or unprotected, so you can fix the highest-risk gaps first.
What is the difference between DSPM and DLP?
DSPM tells you where sensitive data is and how exposed it is. Data-loss prevention (DLP) stops that data leaving through channels like email, web, SaaS and AI tools. They work together.
What is shadow data?
Shadow data is sensitive information sitting in places no one is tracking, such as forgotten cloud stores, copies and SaaS apps. It is a common blind spot that data discovery surfaces.
How does data security help with the Privacy Act?
Knowing what personal information you hold and protecting it supports Privacy Act obligations, including the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. Data discovery and controls give you that visibility.
How does CyberPulse deliver data security?
We deliver it as a solution. We select, deploy and tune leading data-security platforms and map protection to your obligations. For ongoing monitoring and response, we can connect it to our managed detection and response service.
What is data security?
Data security is the practice of protecting sensitive data wherever it lives, from on-premises systems to cloud storage, SaaS applications and AI tools. It spans discovering and classifying data, understanding where it is exposed, controlling who can access it, preventing it from leaking, and governing it to your obligations.
The challenge is that data now spreads faster than most organisations can track. Sensitive information ends up in places no one owns, and that shadow data is exactly what attackers and accidental leaks exploit. As staff and applications feed data into AI tools, that exposure grows, which is why data security and AI security increasingly go together.
CyberPulse delivers data security as a solution. We select, deploy and tune leading data-security platforms such as Cyera and BigID, and map protection to the Privacy Act and your compliance obligations, with ongoing monitoring available through our managed services where you want it.
